Biography
Vrindavan Solanki was born in Junagadh, Gujarat, in 1942. He earned a Diploma in Painting from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 1980, followed by a Post Diploma in Graphics from the same institution in 1982. From 1982 to 1987, he served as Visiting Faculty at the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, and was a member of the Gujarat State Lalit Kala Akademi from 1987 to 1990. Solanki began exhibiting his work in 1969, holding his first solo exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. He went on to present numerous solo shows, including Drawings at Taj Art Gallery, Mumbai (1981), and Drawings at The Continental Hotel, Curepipe, Mauritius (1991). His participation in major group exhibitions includes the 35th Annual Art Exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts, Calcutta (1970); Multiple Encounters at the Manhattan Graphics Center, New York (2004); and Art Trend Galleria, Hong Kong (2004). Vrindavan Solanki is known for his distinct monochromatic figural compositions, often evoking the grace, dignity, and timeless rhythm of rural life in Gujarat. His work combines quiet restraint with strong graphic precision, offering a meditative reflection on memory and identity. He lives and works in Ahmedabad.
