Biography
Born in 1993, Biraaj Dodiya received her MFA from New York University in 2018, and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2015. Her selected exhibitions include Every Bone a Song at Experimenter, Colaba (2022); Transitory Forms at Art Basel (2021); The (Pro)Found Object and (ME)(MORY) at Vadehra Art Gallery (2021); and Do You Know How To Start A Fire? at Bikaner House (2021). Her solo exhibitions include Stone is a Forehead at Experimenter, Kolkata (2020), and Burn Your Finger, and Kiss it Yourself at 80WSE Gallery, New York (2017).Her writing has been published in Art India Magazine, The Punch Magazine, and Experimenter Books (edited by Aveek Sen). Dodiya is the recipient of the Civitella Ranieri Foundation Visual Arts Fellowship (2021), the Jack Goodman Scholarship in Art and Technology (2018), and a nomination for the Dedalus Foundation MFA Fellowship in Painting and Sculpture (2018). She also completed a residency at the Vermont Studio Center in 2015, and was selected as a visual arts fellow in residence at Civitella Ranieri Foundation, Umbertide, Italy, in 2022.The artist lives and works in Mumbai, India.
